Music:Jay-Z Unplugged - Izzo

I bought the first cd i have purchased in a great number of years yesterday. The band is called Tribalistas. Its funny how even though i have no fucking idea what they're saying, i still really like it. I started to listen and see what words i understood then i clued in that it was in portugese.

On that note, portugese is a fucking beautiful language. You were right.

So I found out in costa rica everyone has xmas dinner at midnight on the 24th. How odd.

I did a bunch of xmas shopping today and im almost done. I have 4 words to say to all of you:

FUCKING. ELECTRIC. DRUMKIT. YETH!!!!!!!

We got johan an electric drumkit for like 2 g's but ill get to use it too alot, and i got myself a guitar amp finally. im so happy. im going to start composing more now. look out lenny kravitz.

came up with a great xmas gift idea for someone here too, i love when something just dawns on you and you're like 'aw hell yeah thats fucking perfect!!'

And now im also on a movie watching spree of good movies i have never in my life seen. Some of which include:

Princess Bride
Snatch
Goodfellas
Memento
Lock stock & two smoking barrels
All of the godfathers
donnie brasco
scarface

Guess ill go to bed now. working early tomorrow. again.

h to tha izzo, b to the izzay.

Its been a while since ive posted any sort of livejournal update with any substance to it at all. I guess now is as good of time as any.

Its a nice saturday morning out, im feeling pretty neutral, if you weigh both sides of the scale. Ive had a pretty good last couple days and I've met a bunch of new people which is always alot of fun

I suppose I'll start off with the crappy parts and end on a good note, apparently thats always more appealing to audiences. A good friend of mine and I have been talking alot lately but in the past couple weeks its become increasingly difficult because of some things ive said, and some things that have been said to me, and general miscommunication along the way. Whats frustrating for me is I just went back and read a bunch of their journal entries, some of which talking about me, and the freedom of their speech in there is alot easier to follow than trying to follow it on MSN. The last few posts have seemed very hateful towards me and I dont like that. I didnt want that to happen. Hopefully I can fix that.

On a happier front, Ive got to meet a bunch of new people here including a large group of american students that are all really great people. It was sad to see them go last night. I met them through Eli who is the director of their exchange program. I dont think i could do that job.. You have a group of 30 or so students come and spend 3 months and get to know them all really well then they all have to go home after and a new group comes. Youd think that after a while of doing it you would just learn not to get close to people and let it get you upset when they leave, but I can see without any doubt that its just not that easy.

Last night I went to watch a dance performance that Eli's friend Andrea was dancing in, shes a belly dancer, and was performing with about 4 other girls on stage.. It was for this dance academy and they have a bunch of different age groups and dance styles and each group took turns presenting thier dances for a christmas event. They started off with these adorable little kids in jumper suits, it took about 2 hours in total I guess, but it was really cool.

Then we went to Hooligans for... someones birthday.. Ahh, nana, thats right. Lots of names, lots of faces. Hooligans is a sports bar in the mall, the cool part of the night came when the mexican mariachis came in and played this INSANE music and this group of dudes came in and played some samba stuff, suuuper fast like 160bpm drums that was absolutely mesmerizing. Then went to say goodbye to the group of students, exchanged email addresses and saw everyone shed tears over each other because they all had to part ways. Reminded me of big brother sorta.

Christmas is coming up soon, Im not going back to vancouver for it this year which makes me a little upset, but I have plenty here to keep me company. Im going to be making xmas breakfast at glenn and mona's house, then I have a couple dinners to attend and possibly my own to cook.. We just got a christmas tree at home yesterday, and i must say

Costa rica has FUNNY ASS christmas trees.

They're more like... Christmas "Hedges"

Its your typical hedge cut into the shape of a triangle.. Made to look like your typical christmas tree :P It makes hanging decorations a bit of a bitch, but oh well, it will do the trick. Im just glad we have one and it sorta feels like christmas (You know, no cold weather, no snow, it feels like summer still and christmas is 5 days away)

Ive rambled on for too long, and I have a billion other things to talk about but I'll do it another time.

Today was a pretty productive day. I had a good day today. hehe :)

I woke up late around noon, slept in nicely, no bad dreams to start the day off shitty.
Spent about 2-3 hours being lazy eating breakfast, hanging out with the laptop in bed, staying warm.. Johan got home not too long after and we decided to go the mall to go shopping

I stopped at the glasses store to get the ball rolling on some new glasses. I ended up picking out some really cool Versace frames. It was a toss up between these silver ones or black ones with no frame on the bottom half of the lens. I picked the silver frame after asking for a second and third opinion on which one suited me better. The whole deal for glasses and lenses only came out to just over $300 too!

After that we went to the music store and i played drums for a little bit on the nice drum kit. The guy offered me a discount on the drum kit I wanted and me and jo talked about going halfers on one of two kits they had there. One is $1600 and is pretty basic, the other is $2900 and really quite amazing. Tough call. Who knows if we'll even get it.

Then it was off to this store, ARMI, to see if they had any decent clothes since i havent bought new clothes in god knows how long. probably since the time before last i was in vancouver. I ended up finding a cool longsleeve thin black sweater style shirt, some khakis, a white undershirt, and a sweet tan vneck sweater AND black pants for $95. They all look really good on me judging from the comments i got when i was admiring myself in the mirror, and they're all really nice quality. Score :)

We came home and decided to have a bbq, so we made specially seasoned chicken, bbq beef ribs, bbq pork ribs, and i made these kick ass barbecue potatoes with butter, onions, red peppers and a bunch of seasonings. It all turned out super delicious.

After thaaaaat I went and watched some lame van damme movie with johan until dennis came home, then we hung out chatting for a little bit and now I'm in bed at 3am bored off my ass not that tired yet writing about my day in my journal to a bunch of people that dont relate with it anyways :P hehe

I guess thats it, back to work tomorrow. Same old same old.

Oh yeah, another thing. I have a ticket to fly back to canadadia on the 22nd of December for Xmas but i dont have a ticket booked to get back here yet. Kinda worries me that I only realized this today cause i might not be able to find space to fly back, which means i might not be able to come for christmas day. Which would kinda suck.

I guess we'll see what happens.

Ah, it always happens. I cant just enjoy my fucking fun can i.

The last couple days has been really exciting. Probably the most exiciting days of my life, and especially career. I cant really say much about it yet, but in a nutshell I caught and took down some "foreign hackers" who were responsible in about 10 billion dollars in damages to some sites, I got to talk to Homeland Security and Scotland yard, and uncovered a huge huge thing. I was part of 3 people that unfolded the whole thing. So I'm really happy.

And then..

OH YES, THERE'S AN "AND THEN" (and we arent ordering chinese food, so its not funny)

Now, its the middle of the day, 3:30 here, I was working happily, then the "balancer" comes in. I say balancer because it was bad enough to completely negate all of my positive happy energy and bring me back to zero. Then, I th ought about it some more and it put me in the negatives as far as my mood goes.

Now, I'm so angry that I cant finish work. I cant enjoy the rest of my day, and I sure as hell wont sleep properly.

I'll be fine, but... fuck.

I'm speechless.

im sick. dennis got me sick. fucker.

Talked to my dad today for the first time in almost 8 months. it was okay. filled him in on life and what not. Could have been worse i suppose.

Tomorrow im making thanksgiving dinner for 8 people, should be exciting, im doing it all myself from scratch

Guess i'll be flying back to van in just under a month for xmas. Gotta say, im pretty nervous about that.

Some good options this year for new years finally. Last few new years havent been that exciting as far as new years' go. So far 2 options sound really damn good, either out at a cabin with the boys in B.C. freezing my raisins off, or maybe out on the other side of the world in the UK with some pals

Im gonna go home and drink some tea and have a hot bath and crawl into bed i think.

I have had a few conversations in the past week that have really taken me by surprise when they normally would not have. Ive had people give me their honest opinion on what they think about me, and it made me feel really great. I mean, compliments like that usually do. ive had people that i had no idea knew my name talk about me as though i was a close friend. Ive had people admit that they look up to me. All of these things make any person feel good.

But for me, this past week, its really struck me quite differently, simply because i think i realied ive have felt like such a ghost for the last few months, that i had this life that i used to have, but i was detached from it now, and all the things that i used to do that used to matter to people... just.. didnt anymore. Its a tough feeling when you have a purpose.. At least you feel like you have one.. You make a difference and you see how. And then your life changes and although you're still important and you still make a difference, that big chunk is gone and its easy to feel like your efforts are going unnoticed because you dont see the reward.

Then again, maybe im just babbling cause im sick and on some cold medication and its 1am and i should be in bed.

Umm.. Nite.

I think ive decided Im going to change all the passwords on all my servers and not fucking tell anyone what they are. My Junior tech constantly fucking breaks shit instead of phoning me to simply ask and I am spending far too much time fixing his mistakes instead of getting 'real work' done.

I think maybe i let people off to easy and let people get away with too much. in general. Maybe i should become more of a hard ass and less of a nice guy and set some people in line.

Blather blather. Its 10:30, I aork in the morning at 8. Such monotony. I want snow.

The time has come that i should probably go to bed. Its almost 4am and staying up this late has got to stop. Ive been doing it too much lately.. The kitty is passed out on my lap so I should probably take him to bed and let him curl up under the sheets.

Went out to the bar with paulo for a few hours... Had some fun, told childhood stories from canada and his from mexico. Learned that he has two kids that hed really like to be a part of but doesnt know how to because of the mother's wishes.

Ive been watching this one video every few days here that im really quite fond of, because of what it represents. Just difficult because its very emotional every single time.

I would really enjoy to have something just go my way for once. So often I end up losing on the things that matter the most and its very exhausting. Some things are just out of your control I suppose, no matter how hard you try.

Well, before i ramble on some more into deep blatherings for the whole world to read, me and zephyr are going to hit the hay.

Thank god for work starting at 3pm. Lets hope dennis doesnt wake me up at 9am again tomorrow saying "Im bored get up get up get up"

Ciao! :)

Interesting past 48 hours, i must say. I figured id write about it while its still fresh.. We'll start about 10pm yesterday..

So I was busy at work preparing for the breeders cup race today.. Huge event. Biggest of the year. I wanted to impress everyone by not having any downtime at all and make sure our stuff was running top notch. So I was busting my ass, finally got it all done at about midnight.. Had had a semi crappy conversation earlier which got made moot later on with a phone call that cheered me up, but anyways.. Lots of stress.. put it that way.. So I get home at about 12:30, laid down to go ot bed.. As I laid there tossing and turning with a bunch of stuff going through my head (btw im coming back to vancouver on monday the 27th for a week too) i finally doze off...

At 3am im woken up by DING DING DING DINGDING.. the doorbell is going nuts..

I wake up a little, figuring it was part of my dream, but then i heard yelling. Then screaming. Then crying.. Then more yelling, then slamming of metal.. I get up and grab this retractable metal stick thing we have incase something fucked up was going on and i had to defend myself.

I get to our front gate and theres two guys laying on the ground, one is crying, the other is groaning and holding his stomach.. My roomate dennis is out there holding the guys wallet totally curious as to what the fuck is going on.. Johan comes out and starts speaking spanish to these guys, we learn that the guy crying was driving his car, and got stopped by guys with guns and carjacked.. Ripped out of his car, and thrown on the ground. The guy holding his stomach had just had the shit kicked out of him and probably had a broken rib.

Sucks, right? It gets worse.

The guy crying was so upset not over his car, but because his little cousin was with them, and the carjackers took him with them in the car. FUCK, hey?

That SUCKS. OH WAIT. It gets WORSE!

Okay so we call the cops and an ambulance, and htey show up.. The cop starts talking to the guy and trying to help.. Then looks at the guys ID.. He sees that the guy isnt from Costa Rica but infact from Nicaragua..

The cop says.. Literally. "You're nica. .. Heh. Fuck you. We're out of here" gets in his truck, and leaves.

(Nicaraguans dont have a very good rep here.. They came in as thieves and criminals etc and made a horrible name for themselves) so we made sure the guy could get himself home and sent him on his way, but JEZUS.

Anyways, after having no sleep, today went great. Went off without a hitch at all. Everyone complimented me on multiple occassions, this is the first errorless event we've had.

/me bows ;)

Today i went to the mall with paulo to pick up a present and stopped at the music store, and what do i find? a nice shiny new electonic drum kit. So i sit down and start jamming, when i realize this guy across the store is playing a guitar.. He turns his amp up and starts playing something i recognized so i turned my drum amp up and started playing along with him. We rocked out the store for a good 15 minutes and had a crowd of 25-30 people listening and we got cheered afterwards. :)

Aaaaannddd tomorrow Im going to a car audio show with rodrigo my co worker which should be fun.. then the day after im off to vancouver! cant wait.

Long fucking entry. wow.
Im tired. I want to have a bath and get this SMELL off of me (long story) and go to bed.

night

This song reminds me of a fucking awesome time in my life. This singles folder i have here thats basically a conglomeration of KaZaa downloads for like a year is great. Set it on shuffle and you're bound to hear a bunch of good music.

Ive moved into a new house just recently. Its like 4000 sq feet, 4 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, 2 living rooms, two patios, a theater/tv room, two car garage, huge ass kitchen.. Im loving it so far. I moved in with my friend Dennis from years ago who also lives out here. He used to live in Kamloops when I did.

Happy belated thanksgiving to everyone, I missed out, but i might do a thanksgiving thing when american thanksgiving comes around.

Anyways, not much to say right now i suppose. Ill update again another day.

Hmm. This song is awesome. Infact, all of DMB's stuff is awesome. I remember about 2 and a half years ago i refused to listen to it cause i didnt think it was very interesting. Now i love it. Sometimes it can be hard to listen to, but.. Its great stuff. Especially the live@folsom cd's. Check them out.

Anyways!

Just had 3 of my friends, chris neil and mikey come visit from vancouver.. We had a blast... I showed pictures of the fridge, which got demolished in about 2.5 days.. lol. We took a shitload of pictures and video which im sure will surface shortly.. We went out to Tamarindo beach to go surfing, then over to the Arenal Volcano which is ACTIVE (that is cool shit, let me tell you), hit a few clubs, bribed some cops when we got a speeding ticket, got a flat out in the middle of the jungle in the dark and the jack wouldnt jack the car up enough at first.

Anyway we had tons of fun and I wish they could have stayed a bit longer. I walked away with a harsh sunburn on my back and I got my head shaved. hehe. I'll post a picture at the end of this. Sucks to be back at work, but what can you do.

I'm moving into my new house here in just a couple days which will be really nice. We have to go appliance shopping and get a fridge, stove etc.

Today was kind of crappy I suppose. Not exactly sure what to make of it yet, we'll see i suppose. I was hoping i could go back to normal ways but apparently im just not a suitable candidate :P

It would be really nice to wake up one morning and see blue beige and white stripes again instead of fuzzy spiderman. Cross ya fingers :P

I also lost my cellphone which kinda sucks, im gonna have to buy a new one now, and im pretty much cut off from talking to people while im at home. Maybe I'll get my 800 # routed to my house. that wouldnt be bad.

Time to go home now i suppose. Here's that picture I was promising:

(this was taken at 3am while still wearing my surfing gear)

na-night.

I think im going to take friday off, work on the morning on saturday, then part of the morning on sunday, head out to the rally in cartago, then drive out to the beach to go surfing. Then if arenal isnt closed down because of the recent eruption, we'll go out there and see the volcano.

Im just deciding what to eat for dinner. I might order chinese, but i am trying to cut back on the unhealthy food
